The adoption of children in India is handled by Central Adoption Resource Authority. The method must ensure that both the child to be adopted and the potential adoptive parents' best interests are served. There are several success stories of children enjoying their new life with their parents. One such story is of Baby M, a visually impaired child. It was discovered that she had very poor eyesight and needed spectacles after being diagnosed with Myopic astigmatism. She required assistance with all tasks; however, she has just begun to walk by grasping the edges of the bed and when someone holds her hand. She recognises her own name and smiles when she is called by it. Recently she was adopted by a couple living abroad.
